About

Thank you for taking the time to delve a little deeper into the community here at Sunset Hills Montessori School . We sincerely hope that after you peruse the information found here that you would have a better insight as to who we are, what we believe and how we can best serve you. We take great pride in our school history and feel that it has helped to foster the diverse and creative community that we have today. If you find that our school is a place where your child will thrive mentally, physically and emotionally please head over to our 'Contact Us' section and send us an email or give us a call. We would love to set up a tour and some time to sit down and speak with you about your child. Every child deserves to feel special and belong. Therefore we decided to call the children who are enrolled in before and/or after school care The Sunset Club. This way they have a special place to go and a special group with which to be associated when some of their friends are going home or to home childcare providers instead of staying at school. IN THE ELEMENTARY: Before school: The child goes to the elementary classroom where he/she may work on the computer, play games, do art, read, listen to story or music tapes, or work on ongoing projects. After school: The elementary children need to have a balance of planned activities and free time in the afternoon. They help to plan and organize some of these activities. Some of the activities for the after-school program include: study hall art projects free play on the playground planning and presenting art projects for the younger children and helping them with their work organized sports games such as kick ball, basketball, soccer, jump rope board games such as Parcheesi, checkers, Yahtzee, Guess Who?, Go to the head of the Class, and the Game of the States card games block building Summers at SHMS provide our campers with a safe, nurturing environment that ties the Montessori philosophy in with traditional summer camp fun! Each summer your child has nine weekly adventures to choose from.
