Our 4 day AM and 4 day PM preschool classes are for children 3 to 5 years of age. Classes meet Mondays through Thursdays, September through May. Applicants for the upcoming school year must be 3 years of age by Sept 1 of the year they begin school. We also have a forest kindergarten for older 4's and 5's. This program is 5 hours per day every day M-TH and 3 hours on Fridays.
Children benefit from exploring the natural surroundings of the 40-acre sanctuary, which offer endless opportunities for investigation and discovery. The children's education is enriched by programs led by Director Stephanie Bozzo, Classroom Teachers Ryan Frye, Amelia McLaughlin, Shannon Earle, Chelsea Hawk, Ruth Polk, Kristin Roberts and ANS staff naturalists.

This program is a hidden gem in the DC area! If you are looking for a place where your child can truly be their self, fully enjoying all the special things childhood has to offer, please visit and consider ANP. Your child will explore flora and fauna, go on hikes in the woods, learn songs, make friends, feel loved and supported by their teachers, make art, play in the rain and snow, listen to stories and so much more.
I have been so impressed by the staff at ANP who are so warm and encouraging with the children and really give each child room to discover who they are and learn at their own pace.
My children left the programs with a strong sense of who they are, a strong connection and respect for nature, incredible gross motor skills, an insatiable curiosity, strong friendships and social skills and memories to last a lifetime.
This program is a great balance of letting children enjoy their precious young years (with lots of play and open exploration) while giving them the skills they need to be successful in their next educational endeavor.

Amazing school - caring teachers, strong curriculum, fabulous nature classroom. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else. HIGHLY recommend it.
