Our toddler started the program in January 2015, when he was six-months-old. Our four-month-old joined in November 2017. We are extremely pleased. Our toddler loves it. He woke up this past Sunday asking to go to Ligia's. The curriculum in the school is top notch, as Ligia has 20+ years of experience in daycare, and we are seeing our kids develop rapidly. The school has won a number of government grants towards educational toys, and developmental activities for the children are plenty. In the spring and summer, the children get to play at their garden's playground, fully equipped, and my two-year-old looks forward to "water days." In these days, Ligia gets additional support as a safety precaution, an indicator of how highly responsible Ligia and Jesus are. Also, our toddler is learning Spanish at school and English at home and shifts between languages with ease. Ligia and Jesus are really good and guiding children on how to interact with their peers. I am a proud mom when I see my child interact with kids his age outside of school. He shares, takes turns, and solves conflict well. Our four-month-old is also ahead in his development, with muscle control and behaviors of a six-month-old, according to the pediatrician. I attribute this to the excellent attention and care he receives at school.
The strongest aspect of the program is the genuine care that Ligia, Jesus, and the rest of the team have for the kids. As an example, our toddler is a picky vegetarian, and we take our own food in days when needed. Ligia skillfully arranges his plate so that it looks just like the other kids'. When my child rejects the food, Ligia, provides alternative balanced vegetarian choices. I am also pleased with the emphasis on safety, as the program has more teachers per student compared to other daycares in the area. Also, the county has approved two floors in Ligia's house as space for care, so my infant sleeps safely under close supervision in a separate space. Finally, I find that communicating with Ligia is simple and straightforward. She has responded proactively every time I have brought up any request or concern, even when these were petty, and always made herself available to answer any questions. In these past two years, I have learned a great deal from her wisdom and experience. As a working mom who commutes to DC daily, I am fortunate to have found a loving and responsible program that I can trust.
