About

Little Brainies Daycare is run by Nikki Nahid, who has been working with children her entire life. She started working with kids when she was 19 years old, and loved it so much that she decided to make it her life long career! Little Brainies has structured daily schedules. It not just a play place, but really focuses on being a place where children will learn in a structured environment with a set curriculum. Nikki sets a learning theme for each month, and each week there is a structured lesson that revolves around the monthly theme. The food we serve is under the Montgomery County food and nutrition program and all meals are cooked fresh daily. Nikki is accredited by the NAFCC (National Association of Family Child Care), which requires her to complete 35 hours training every year. Something very special and unique about Little Brainies is that Nikki works closely with the parents and encourages the parents to get involved in activities. For example, one parent brings his guitar and plays music for the children, one parent is the football coach, another parent comes in to teach soccer, and one of the moms is a scientist and teaches sciences to the children. On Fridays parents participate in activities such as decorating cookies, cooking projects, science projects, yoga and zumba. It is really important that the parents are involved and participate in the children's activities! Nikki provides daily reports for the parents and every year she holds two conferences with the parents so we can sit and talk about goals for the children. Each child has their own cubbies and files, and the parents are welcome to come into the daycare at anytime to observe program and to check their child's profile to see what they've learned that week. Nikki also works with the parents to help in potty training. We have two separate rooms for babies and toddlers. Every day the children have circle time, learn the calendar, the days of the week, and they'll learn to read and write. We do story time twice everyday, 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon. We do all kinds of art projects, and even have a garden where the children water their own plants everyday. Twice a week we do water play, where we go outside and play in the sprinklers. Everyday when the children come into the daycare they have to find their name tags on the desk. This gives them structure and helps them learn how to identify their names.

My son (17 months) and daughter (3.5 years) have been attending Little Brainies since they were each 2 months old and I have been extremely happy with the care provided. Nikki and Goli have become family. Both of my children love going to "school" every day and return home each night with stories and art projects to share with my husband and I. One day, my daughter proudly showed off her journal in which she had drawn our family (for the first time!) and written "Mom" and her name (for the first time!). Nikki follows an educational curriculum which also includes weekly activities such as “library day” (children bring a book from home), yoga, soccer, dancing, show and tell, water play (summer) and “field trips” to the local park. We highly recommend Little Brainies to any family looking for a quality, affordable in-home daycare.

When trying to find a daycare for my son I was very hesitant as to where I wanted to take him. I searched everywhere and when I came across Little Brainies, specifically Ms. Nikki, it was a clear decision for me. Nikki and Goli are wonderful and love the kids at the daycare as if they were their own. Their love and compassion for the kids is truly amazing. The curriculum is fantastic too. They have story time, arts & crafts, learning shapes/letters/numbers etc., learning manners, potty training, the list goes on! I love it at Little Brainies and more importantly my kids love it there and feel at home. I would highly recommend Little Brainies to anyone looking for child care as my experience there has been nothing but amazing!!!!

We have had the privilege of having two of our children attend Little Brainies Daycare. Our children were loved, treated with respect, and taught how to respond in a similar manner. They were well educated upon leaving, but more importantly, well loved. We were all treated as if we were family, and couldn't have asked for a better place to raise our children.

Nikki does a fantastic job- this is hands down the best daycare center I've had experience with. Nikki has worked with our family for 2 years. My daughter went there first, and learned so much from Nikki- including potty training! (Made my life MUCH easier!) She also learned numbers, math concepts such as geometrical shapes and one to one correspondence of numbers 1-10, many letters- both recognizing them and writing them, science concepts such as weather, and social studies concepts such as community involvement. In addition, she learned social skills, routines, and problem solving skills. Most importantly, she had FUN learning these things. She was excited to go to Nikki's in the morning, and would happily chatter about what she did that day as soon as I picked her up. She feels comfortable with the caregivers, and I really saw her blossom and come out of her shell. We loved Nikki's daycare so much that we knew it was the only place good enough for our son. He is there now, and we are thrilled with the care he is receiving. He is 7 months old, yet is fully engaged in the center and all of their activities. He has such a happy affect, and is in a set routine every day. We are so in love with this daycare, and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone! Kids have fun, learn a lot, are safe, and are part of a wonderful small community of people!
