The Lee Center Cooperative Playgroup is a parent-run program for children ages 1 to 4. It is licensed for child care by Arlington County and the state of Virginia. Parents supervise children during play sessions on a rotating basis. In addition, they constitute an administrative body that handles finances, enforces regulations, and handles day-to-day running of the program.
PLAYGROUPS
Playgroups are limited to 12 children. A minimum ratio of one parent per three children is always maintained.
Mon/Wed AM — 9:30 am to 11:30 am (ages 1 to 3)
Mon/Wed PM — Noon to 2 pm (ages 2 to 4)
Tues/Thurs AM — 9:30 am to 11:30 am (ages 1 to 3)
Tues/Thurs PM — Noon to 2 pm (ages 2 to 4)
Tues/Thurs Late PM — 3:15 pm to 5:15 pm (ages 1 to 3)
Fri AM — 9:30 am to 11:30 am (ages 1 to 3)
MEMBERSHIP
To get on the waitlist, fill out the LCCP Enrollment Form and submit it with a check for $10. For information, you may contact the membership coordinator at leecenterplaygroup (at) [redacted]. Priority is given to current members, siblings, alumni, and Arlington County residents. Spaces are offered to potential members throughout the year whenever they become available.
COOPERATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Each parent is scheduled to work 1/3 of the total session days per enrolled child and is assigned one of four duties on a rotating basis:
To coordinate an arts and craft activity;
To provide a nutritious snack;
To clean up the playroom; and
To lead a circle time segment.
In addition, parents are required to hold officer positions, attend membership meetings, and fulfill CPR, First Aid, and health certifications.
